For many the Bar Mitzvah marks the coming of age, for Andrew it marked the start of a long path in marketing and public relations. He grew up in New Jersey (exit 153A) and graduated from Montclair State University with a Marketing Degree, paying his way through school by working at a travel agency and performing in just about every community theater musical in the area. Name a show, he will sing the score for you. Making people happy and bringing enjoyment into their lives is Andrew's driving force.
Along the way he has worked with some of the finest restaurants, hotels, personalities and products in the world, and has loved every minute of it! He counts eating out every night and staying at wonderful hotels as part of his job duties and dedicates himself to doing a great job. (On a side note, the stairmaster is a very close friend.)
Prior to opening Andrew Freeman & Co., Andrew worked at legendary New York venues. These included Windows on the World where he was Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing and responsible for the re-launch after the Trade Center bombing in 1992, the Russian Tea Room where Andrew opened the Cabaret which became the toast of the town after only six months, and the Rainbow Room.
Eventually Andrew left New York and departed for San Francisco to become the Vice President of Public Relations and Strategic Partnerships for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. He spent ten years with Kimpton, launching over 40 hotels and restaurants as well as the global brand. While there Andrew was responsible for strategic development and execution of all public and media relations activities. He also headed outreach, rela-tionship development and execution of programs with industry and community partners. During his tenure Andrew helped spearhead Kimpton Hotels LGBT travel program which has garnered numerous awards and positioned Kimpton as one of the Top Companies for LGBT employment (by The Advocate and Girlfriends Magazine). In 2002, Kimpton became the first hospitality company to receive a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index and has continued to do so every year since.
Today, his consulting business keeps him busy and he's honored to work with clients that include the Palm Restaurant Group, Larkspur Hotels, Personality Hotels, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, étoile at Domaine Chandon, Magnolia Bakery, JW Marriott and other hotels and restaurants.
Even amidst his hectic schedule Andrew finds time to give back to the community, which is extremely important to him. He's an active advisory board member of the Richmond Ermet AIDS Foundation, an advisor for the American Airlines LGLBT committee and is one of the only male board members for the San Francisco chapter of Dress For Success. He is a former board member of the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Anti-Defamation League, as well as former member of the Public Relations Society of America. Andrew is a contributing editor of the Hotel Executive/Hotel Business Review and the Hotel Whisperer for National Geographic Traveler. Andrew regularly presents at hospitality trade shows around the nation including the National Restaurant Association. He brings passion and dedication to all of his endeavors.
In addition to putting butts in seats and heads in beds for his clients, Andrew fills his free time with friends, family and his two Yorkies - Daisy and Tulip. When he's not working - you can always find him at the gym, in a restaurant, or at a show!
