Chef Tony Mantuano Reimagines an Icon: Spiaggia
Not many restaurants can claim icon status, but the Michelin-starred Spiaggia fits the bill. Chef Tony Mantuano changed the way Americans viewed Italian food and helped to develop a deeper understanding of Italian cuisine and ingredients. As the restaurant prepared to celebrate it’s 30th anniversary, a multi-million dollar renovation was planned. In addition to the physical remodel, Spiaggia would define that new guest experience for a new generation of diners. We carefully developed a communications strategy around the project, defining it not as bringing something old up to date, but rather reimagining Spiaggia for today. A new lounge and cocktail program was added, the menu became a la carte and the jacket requirement was left behind. Spiaggia re-opened to incredible reviews from both the media and the public, including a raving 4-star review from the Chicago Sun Times.
