Neighborhood Gem Becomes A Global Brand
The La Boulange story began in 1996 when Pascal Rigo, a French baker with a vision, opened a small bakery on Pine St. in San Francisco. When AF&Co. began working with the La Boulange team, there were 9 locations, each one a unique neighborhood bakery shaped by the authenticity of the original location. The company had ambitious goals and we became valuable partners as four new locations were launched and they transitioned their concepts from bakeries to cafes with fuller food menus and bar offerings. We provided concept and brand consultation to support their business expansion as neighborhood gems became part of a valuable brand. We strategized the introduction of Catering by La Boulange, providing full scale marketing and public relations services as well as supported the addition of their packaged product line. In 2012, we provided strategic guidance on the acquisition and announcement that La Boulange would be acquired by Starbucks and their product line would be featured in locations globally.
