Dieci, Venti, Trenta is Back at Poggio!

Poggio is back for their 2nd annual spring wine celebration. Through Saturday, April 15th, Poggio invites you to celebrate the end of tax season with Dieci, Venti, Trenta — 10 days, 20 bottles – one from each of Italy’s wine regions. Each priced at 30 dollars. Saluti!

 

Northern Italy

Val d’Aosta,  La Crotta di Vigneron, Gamay – Beaujolais-like red wine, soft broad finish

Trentino Alto-Adige,  Lechthaler, Teroldego – deeply colored red with tarry, savory, crushed berry flavors

Lombardia, Marangona, Lugana, lemon-citrus flavors, dry and tart finish

Fruili Venezia Giulia, 1 Clivi, Friulano San Pietro, very dry and austere, herbal with minerality

Veneto, Scaia, Corvina, Medium bodied red, smokey cherry tones, used as the primary grape of valpolicella

Piemonte, San Silvestro, Nebbiolo D’Alba – youthful red fruit, lively mouthfeel

Central Italy

Liguria,  Cinqueterre – Tony, our star bartender’s favorite, dry, aromatic, slightly salty white wine

Emilia Romagna, Lambrusco ‘Marcello Grand Cru’ NV – sparkling red wine, young & light, floral and fruity

Toscana, Carpineto, Sangiovese/Cabernet – deep red wine, dark fruit/cherry notes, dry finish

Umbria, Colpetrone, Sagrantino di Montefalco – ruby red-black fruit, earthy, concentrated tannins

Marche, Bucci, Verdicchio Classico – Crisp white wine, pleasing notes of golden apples and almond, silky texture

Lazio, Pallavicini, Frascati Superior – Complex white showing apricot/tropical fruit tones, full soft palate

Abruzzo, Zaccagnini, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo – soft fruity red with dried berries and hints of fruit cake

Southern Italy

Campagna, Terredora, Falanghina, Historic white with a floral profile, broad creamy finish

Puglia, Castello Monaci, Negroamaro, Dark fruit flavors, soft tannins, earthy and rustic

Basilicata, Gricos, Aglianico del Vulture, Firm tannins, cabernet-esque

Calabria, Sergio Arcuri, Ciro – very dry, cherry, cedar tones finishing with big tannins

Sardegna, Sella & Mosca, Cannonau Riserva – big & bold, cannonau is a cousin to grenache, medium bodied red

Sicilia, Planeta, Etna Rosso, Red wine from volcanic soils, black cherry, rhubarb and black pepper flavors
