E&O Celebrates 20 Years of Great Taste!

Thriving Downtown San Francisco Restaurant’s Evolution and Road to Success

 

E&O Kitchen and Bar, modern Asian restaurant and lounge in the heart of San Francisco’s vibrant Union Square, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this July. For two decades, the restaurant has continuously evolved to stay relevant and innovative in the San Francisco dining scene.

 

20 Years of E&O Kitchen and Bar

Founding partners, Chris Hemmeter (Chief Executive Officer), Micah Broude, Dave Philp, and Rodney Loo had a vision in 1997 to open a craft beer restaurant, E&O Trading Co. with pan-Asian inspired food that spoke to Hemmeter’s youth in Hawaii. The idea for E&O Trading Co. spawned from tales of the Eastern Oriental traders — using spices, beers, and textiles as currency. Hemmeter drew his inspiration for the restaurant’s name, “E&O,” an acronym for “East Orient,” and the overall theme of the food and design from his fascination with these stories of trade. E&O brought on a Brew Master to create signature in-house beers paired with oriental-inspired dishes from Consulting Chef, Joyce Goldstein.

 

After operating as a tap house for several years, Hemmeter switched the focus of E&O from a brewery to a notable restaurant; rebranding the concept to E&O Kitchen and Bar. Steering away from pan-Asian cuisine, Hemmeter brought on Consulting Chef, Arnold Eric Wong and Executive Chef Sharon Nahm to oversee the culinary operations and design of a refined menu of Southeast Asian dishes that still spoke to the restaurant’s original story. The new culinary program of E&O Kitchen and Bar attracted diners from all over the Bay Area, making the restaurant a city-wide destination for locals and travelers alike. After an extensive renovation, E&O Kitchen and Bar emerged with an updated look that reflected the new bold flavors and modern cuisine.

 

E&O Celebrates Milestone with Local Culinary Icon Joyce Goldstein

E&O Kitchen and Bar invites guests to join them as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary with a special collaborative menu set to run from July 10 – 30, created by Executive Chef Sharon Nahm and local culinary icon and E&O Kitchen and Bar alum, Joyce Goldstein, featuring a fresh spin on original dishes from the opening menu of E&O Kitchen and Bar in 1997.

 

E&O Kitchen and Bar will continue the 20th Anniversary celebration throughout the remainder of the year with additional in-house promotions where guests can sip their way through the spice route of the Eastern Orient with cocktail specials such as the Lanai cocktail with pineapple, rum, brown sugar, and vanilla, and play E&O Bingo to win complimentary champagne and dessert!
