Katie grew up in Maryland and has yet to find something that’s not better with a sprinkle of Old Bay. She graduated with a Journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison but skipped her graduation ceremony because it conflicted with the local farmers’ market.
Always up for an adventure, Katie honed her craft at MVNP Advertising Agency in Hawaii before returning to Maryland to attend culinary school at L’Academie de Cuisine. She completed her apprenticeship at Blue Duck Tavern in Washington, D.C., and, after graduating first in class, joined the team as a line cook. Later, Katie was tapped as a member of the opening team at Fiola Mare under acclaimed chef Fabio Trabocchi before signing on as Executive Sous Chef at Stomping Ground, a neighborhood restaurant in Alexandria, VA.
After moving to California in 2016, Katie stayed on with the Stomping Ground team working as a brand strategist and project manager and realized she’d found her niche. She is thrilled to join the AF&Co team and combine her passion for food, restaurants, writing, and marketing.
