Basque Culinary World Prize Luncheon at Atelier Crenn
The Basque Culinary World Prize was founded in 2016 by the Basque Culinary Center (BCC). The Basque Culinary Center is a world leading academic institution dedicated to gastronomic education, innovation and research. An annual competition, the winner of the Basque Culinary World Prize will have €100,000 awarded to a project of their choosing. To be considered, chefs need to be nominated by another active professional from the world of gastronomy. Nominations are then considered by, the prize committee, made up of a group of academics and specialists in related areas of the prize criteria, and the jury, members of the International Council of the Basque Culinary Center.
In Spring of 2017, our team was hired by the Basque Culinary Center to garner awareness about the awards and help drive nominations amongst the culinary community. We were tasked with inviting top tier media to attend an exclusive luncheon event at Atelier Crenn, hosted by acclaimed Chef and member of the Basque Culinary Center jury, Dominique Crenn. Our team also managed all production needs, including hiring a local photographer for the event. The purpose of the luncheon was to promote the launch of the Basque Culinary World Prize and to encourage attending media and influencers to submit chefs for consideration. We secured top tier media including a James Beard award-winning food and wine writer; editor of Eater SF; editor of Zagat SF; founder of tablehopper; senior editor of AFAR magazine; freelance writer for Food & Wine magazine and Men’s Journal; and other key media and influencers. We exceeded the attendance goals and ran a highly successful event that garnered multiple media hits and social media impressions, as well as general buzz and additional nominations for the Basque Culinary Center World Prize.
