The Classics, Done Right
Scoma’s brings a classic cheeseburger to the waterfront with its Double Double Cheese Burger, made with two beef patties, double cheese, pickles, and Thousand Island dressing, served with fries. The Vault Steakhouse keeps things classic with its Vault Burger, featuring a juicy beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, onions, lettuce, and secret sauce, served with french fries. We think it’s best paired with an ice-cold martini. Then, at Super Duper at Public Market Emeryville, guests can choose one or two ¼ pound daily ground, all-natural, vegetarian-fed Brandt Beef patties with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and Super Sauce, then customize their burger with cheese and other toppings of their choice.
Smash, Stack, Serve
Smish Smash at Saluhall is known for its unique takes on smash burgers, with limited-time offerings that can include the Dac Biet, inspired by a bowl of beef pho, and the Supreme West Smash 2.0 with grassfed beef, yellow American cheese, sous vide bacon, house pickled jalapenos, onion rings and house BBQ sauce. The Mk’Rib features a pork shoulder and bacon patty, white American cheese, onions, pickles, house BBQ, chives on a sesame bun, made to mimic the famed McRib. Stop into Otto’s at The Kissel Uptown Oakland for their take on the American classic with their Smash Burger featuring American cheese, housemade Black Forest bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, and house sauce on a brioche bun, served with their house-made pickle. For those in the South Bay, stop into Adrestia at TETRA Hotel, where they are keeping things simple and delicious with their Smash Burger made with American cheese, caramelized onions, and house sauce.
Cheeseburgers Bringing a Little Something Special
Bon Délire brings a French perspective to the cheeseburger with its signature Le Burger, served with frisée and Comté cheese. Meanwhile, Gott’s Roadside offers a full lineup that moves beyond the classics (though their classic Cheeseburger and Double Cheeseburger are stellar!), including favorites such as the California Burger, Green Chile Cheeseburger, and Kimchi Burger. Gott’s will also be offering a special Mushroom Swiss Burger, giving burger fans one more reason to stop in and celebrate. In the heart of San Francisco, Rise Over Run at Timbri Hotel is serving up their BBQ Burger, which goes all in on bold, smoky flavors with house BBQ sauce, smoked cheddar, bacon, crispy onions, pickles and lettuce, served with a side of fries. Pair it with a cocktail and a golden hour sunset for the ultimate rooftop burger experience in Mid-Market!
For the Wagyu Lovers
Wild Onion Bistro & Bar’s Wagyu Burger pairs a rich Wagyu beef patty with smoked cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and house-made sauce on a brioche bun. For weekend brunch, the Brunch Wagyu Burger adds Nueske’s smoked bacon, avocado, smoked cheddar, an over-easy egg, and house-made sauce. At Eight North, the Oak Grilled Chuck Burger features American Wagyu beef cooked over oak, aged white cheddar, EightNorth sauce and traditional garnishes, served with ranch-spiced waffle fries. Then, grab a seat at Nokori, TETRA Hotel’s Japanese whisky bar, and enjoy a Wagyu Burger with bacon, white cheddar and miso aioli. Add a fried egg or avocado and pair it with a highball whisky cocktail for the ultimate “cheese burger at the bar” experience.
Don’t Miss Out on the Meatless Option
Little Saint has created the ultimate plant-based burger with their Little Saint Burger, made from scratch with house-made seitan built on a rich, umami mushroom broth and blended with red beet pulp. It comes on a house-made sesame seed brioche bun with a tangy secret sauce, Little Saint Farm lettuce, finely diced sweet onion, fermented dill pickles and a melty carrot “cheese” with a smoky, cheddar-like bite. Pair it with hand-cut, double cooked, hearth-oven farm fries served with rosemary-garlic aioli.
